  • Mama, Wife & Fish Doctor

Who would have thought that some day I would be doing everything in my power to save a goldfish…..named Fishey. Hadley loves the fish in my office so we got him a 2.5 gallon tank and a goldfish for X-mas. Well, we woke up the other morning to find Fishey not his usual peppy self and he had funny white spots on his fins….”he’s got the ick,” Tom told Hadley and I in a somber voice. Me, being the non-fish expert that I am assumed he meant he was icky not that in fact he had something called ick. Who would have thought?!

So, needless to say I have been working around the clock to save Fishey….this sweet soul who inspires my son to sign fish with such enthusiasm every morning. We now have ick medicine (again, who would have thought!), thank goodness for the small pet shop in the neighboring town. The woman there has been very helpful, apparently fish can get the dreaded ick when there are extreme changes in temperature. I would call -30F fairly extreme. Fishey has been at the top of the tank every morning but he perks up when we feed him. After a slight water change and more medicine today I am really hoping things start improving.

Stay out of the light Fishey!

We're pulling for Fishey!!!! We know how Hadley feels b/c we have a much beloved fish named Blue! Declan walk around making fishy noise with puckered lips when he wants to see Blue!!

(If Fishey doesn't make it -- head straight to the store and find a look alike! I have done this more than once!!!! LOL!)
